The Prep School
We are delighted to have opened the doors to our new Prep School Extension last year when the Head Master of Harrow, Mr Barnaby Lenon, visited us to cut the red ribbon.
The extension has improved the classrooms and organisation of facilities in the Prep School and it has also provided 'The Bridge' (a Specialist Learning Centre), 4 additional classrooms, a maths computer suite and an internal walkway which enables children to travel around the Prep School inside - important when the Suffolk rain falls.
Inside the classrooms, you will find the most up-to-date technology, ensuring that children are taught in a stimulating and exciting environment.
Electronic whiteboards, flat-screen computers (one computer for every 3 children in the Prep School) and an exciting array of interactive displays provide children with an environment in which they can really enjoy learning.
'The Bridge' gives support to children with educational needs such as dyslexia and dyspraxia. The classrooms in The Bridge are designed to be especially conducive to one-to-one teaching and small group work and the children really enjoy their time in the centre.
Most of the classrooms have internet-linked computers with specialist software to ensure that children find the learning fun and stimulating.
We now believe that we offer some of the best Prep school facilities in the area and we are confident that we are able to provide a unique and caring atmosphere in which your child can succeed. However, buildings and facilities, although important, are only as good as the staff who work in them. The Headmaster and our professional team are dedicated to the education of your child and they are always available to speak to you regarding any concerns that you may have.
The introduction to the Prep School is gradual, ensuring that children settle quickly into their new environment. Most lessons in Form I are based in the two Form Rooms but children also visit the Art Department, Languages Department for French and Latin, the Music Department and the Computer Suite for IT. From Form II onwards children start moving around the School a little more until, in Form III, they are taught by specialist subject teachers in specialist classrooms, for all lessons.
