History
With a wide range of resources, including full suits of armour, pikes, shields and helmets which children can try on, the History Department is a lively place. Pupils start in Pre-Prep with topics such as Knights and Castles, the Great Fire of London, Florence Nightingale and the Ancient Greeks which stirs their curiosity ready to explore history in more depth once they move into the Prep School
In the Prep School, Form I studies Celts and Romans and then moves through the Dark Ages. Form II examines life during World War 2 and then look at the famous explorations of the past. Forms III and IV learn how the Tudors and Stuarts shaped our country, as well as enjoying about the gruesome nature of the period with gory lessons and unforgettable facts! Forms V and VI work on Medieval Realms for their Common Entrance exam. The subject is also brought alive by visits to the sites of famous battles, museums, historical sites, re-enacting events and other places of interest.
