Admissions

The admissions process at Barnardiston Hall is a personal one from the moment you either email or telephone us with your enquiry to the time your child starts with us.
We pride ourselves on taking the time to get to know you and your child. We want to understand what things are important to you, what you are looking for in your child’s education and what specific needs, if any, your child has.

Whilst we do have Open Days, we also regularly show parents around the School on a 1:1 basis. This enables us to spend time with you (and your child if they accompany you) and you will be able to meet the Headmaster, the teachers and, most importantly of all, our pupils. You will have a chance to speak to children in the same year-group as your son / daughter and this will give you the chance to ask all those questions that go towards giving you a ‘bigger picture’ of what we offer here.

If you have looked around the School without your child, we will invite you back in again so your child can see the School for themselves and, following this, we arrange a Familiarisation Day (for Year 1 and above) and overnight stay (for boarders) so your child can meet the other pupils who will be in their class.

For many parents, this will be their first steps into independent education and we understand that you will have lots of questions. Mrs Lesley Gundersen, whose own 3 children attended the School and whose grandchildren are now also in the School, is on hand at all times to answer those questions – no matter how big or small – and she will ensure that your child’s transition to Barnardiston Hall is a smooth and enjoyable one.

TRANSPORT.  Our buses run daily to / from Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, Linton, Sudbury and Finchingfield.  More details can be obtained from Mrs Egan on 01440 786316 ext 230.
