Pre-Prep

Clubs & Activities

We believe that our extra-curricular programme should be as strong as our academic one.

We offer a wide range of tuition in musical instruments, including drums, guitar, piano, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon and violin.  We also have singing lessons and speech and drama, all leading towards nationally-recognised exams and dance classes which include ballet, tap and modern for both boys and girls.  Gymnastics, judo and tennis are also available.

After-School Clubs are always popular and vary from term to term.  These may include Dance, Cookery, Games, Pop Star Club and Arts and Craft for younger children and Soccer, Chess, Art, Board Games, Golf, Card Games, Maths and Drama for the Prep School.  In addition, we hold one-off challenges  such as Junior and Senior Master Chef where children compete against each other to produce the best 3-course meal from scratch; the results of this are quite outstanding for children so young and there is always a queue of staff willing to assist in judging!

Another special for us is overnight ‘camping’ in classrooms for 3-4-year-old children and in tents in the School grounds for 6-7-year-olds.  All children in the Prep School camp out each year, starting with a walk in the Derbyshire Dales when they are 8-9 years old. All children also have the opportunity to climb the Three Peaks of Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell on a three-year cycle during the Summer half-term.  In addition, we offer trips further afield during School holidays; in the past, these have included a climb to Everest Base Camp, skiing trips, India and, most recently, Iceland;  parents are also invited to take part
