Science
The aim of the Science Department at Barnardiston is to develop our pupil’s enthusiasm and curiosity for the subject through as much practical work as possible, reflecting the importance of children discovering things for themselves.
The syllabus is taught under the general heading of Science and is made up of elements from Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In the junior part of the prep school, the topics reflect those of the National Curriculum. In the senior years, the emphasis is on the Common Entrance Syllabus so that by the end of Form VI the children are fully prepared to take Common Entrance exams in the three sciences or entrance exams to schools of their choice.
Facilities include a well-resourced laboratory which is used by all the children in the prep school. A wide range of practical apparatus is available and lessons are taught using interactive whiteboard with internet access.
